Welcoming Congregation Committee

Since July 2007, the UUA has recognized First Parish Chelmsford as a Welcoming Congregation. This means we affirm and welcome people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer at every level of congregational life.

Our ongoing Welcoming Congregation Committee offers programs, alerts the congregation to legislative initiatives that provide the opportunity to express our support of LGBTQ+ persons to legislators, and communicates with the appropriate church committees. The Committee meets on the third Sunday of the month during the church year (September-June), with variations for holiday weekends. The Committee also coordinates with other welcoming and affirming religious organizations and Chelmsford’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee on events important to the LGBTQIA+ community, such as the Transgender Day of Remembrance and Transgender Day of Visibility town hall.
