The Pastoral Care Team merged informally with the Caring Connection three years ago when Covid challenged our congregation. We have worked together since then and feel that our combined efforts should be kept in place with a new committee name to represent us. We are now calling ourselves the Pastoral Care and Service Team.
Collectively, we send cards to church members; we keep in touch with folks who can no longer attend church but are still very much a part of our church family; we visit the sick and the dying and the grieving; we run a grief support group called Healing Conversations; we coordinate rides and meals to those who are in need; we organize prayer shawls for church blessing; we host a Pastoral Care table at social hour and provide cards and postage for anyone who wants to send a note to a fellow church member; we organize a group called The Healing Circle that holds folks who are going through difficult times through prayer and healing energy; and we run a monthly Zoom cafe to provide an opportunity to connect outside of social hour.
Our members on the Service wing of the team are Sandy Johnston, Maura Snow, and Frans Janssen. The Pastoral Care wing includes Liz Peterson, Cheryl Wilson, Brian Snow, Linda Newhard, and Kathy Deschenes (chair). Please reach out to any of us if there’s anything we can do to help.
