First Parish COVID Update
Encouraging signs continue as we enter the Spring of 2021. The rollout of vaccinations is moving forward, with more people eligible and the weather is getting better. Below is a quick update from the COVID Task Force, as we look to the months ahead.
Re-opening of Worship and Programming
The task force has been discussing the specific criteria that we will use to determine how and when to re-open. We are looking at plans from other UU congregations as well as reviewing CDC and Massachusetts state guidelines. Re-opening is a much more complicated process than shutting down and more than likely, our re-opening will be in phases. We plan to continue with remote Worship and Programming through the summer. We will be sharing more information in April and May regarding our plans for the fall.
Meanwhile, we have several opportunities for online connection and community, beyond our Sunday worship services:
- • We continue with virtual Coffee Hour after worship, with break-out rooms for small group conversation.
• Rev Ellen and Dolores host a Soul Matters Sharing Circle on the last Sunday of each month at 1pm, for reflection and discussion on the month’s worship theme. Participants are welcome to attend only the sessions they wish. Contact Dolores at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are interested.
• We will hold an online version of our Auction with bidding starting on April 3 and live bidding on April 10. Go to https://event.auctria.com/26938b0f-2209-4d7d-b8cc-3894146acc8f/ to register and see the items up for auction!
• The Caring Connection and Pastoral Care Teams are hosting Zoom Cafés on Thursdays. Announcements go out each Wednesday with the Zoom link.
• Community Table has started up again, prepping and serving meals on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
