Sunday school classes for all resume on September 18th
We will offer a Pre-K class during the Water Communion Sunday on Sept 11th for our youngest RE participants.

Religious Education Information Packet  The Religious Education information packets about the upcoming RE year will be emailed  shortly to all families that registered last year. Packets include updated information about Religious Education, as well as a 2011-2012 calendar. Please let us know if you would like to receive an information packet about our program, we are happy to send one you. Hard copies of the packet and calendar will be available at the RE table during social hour after church services. The registration form is availaible online.

Religious Education Volunteering  All 1st through 6th grade classroom guides are invited to attend our Classroom guide training and review session at the church on Saturday September 10th from 10am-Noon at the church.

Volunteering Survey   If you have not yet let us know how you can help support religious education at First Parish this year, it's not too late!  We have opportunities for classrooms guides, workshop leaders, prek and Kindergarten teachers, and high school youth advisors, and support with running our multigenerational pageant this year. Please take a moment to fill out our online survey to share with us your interest and availability as a volunteer.

Religious Education for 2011-2012
Here is what we have planned for Sunday mornings starting in September:

Our nursery care will continue for children through age three.  We will continue to offer a Friendship Finders for 4 & 5 year olds and Rainbow Seekers for our Kindergarteners.

Children in first grade through six grade will participate in our Workshop Rotation curriculum.  There will be 4 age groups 1st-2nd grades will be combined as well as 4th & 5th grades . Our 3rd graders and  6th grader will be with their own grade. This year's workshops will explore Jewish & Christian stories and teachings. We are still recruiting workshop leaders and classroom guides to help us with this curriculum.  Workshop Rotation themes & dates will be as follows:

Genesis Stories: Creation, Adam & Eve, Cain & Able, Noah's Arc: September 25th, October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd

Multi-Age Nativity Pageant “Would you like to Hold the Baby?” by Joyce Poley: November 6th, 13th, 27th, December 4th & 10th. With the pageant on Dec. 18th     

Market Place 29AD & Jesus's Parables: January 8th, 15th 22th, 29st & February 5th.

God's Paintbrush: February 19th, 26th March 4th, 11th, 18st & 25th   

Psalms: April 1st, 15th, 22nd, 29th & May 6th

Junior High will be offered for 7th & 8th graders and they will continue to meet with advisors for group building, service projects and popcorn theology and lesson that explore Jewish and Christian teachings as well. The curriculum their group will use this year is called “Traditions With A Wink”.

Senior high will be offered on Sunday mornings and will continue to run as it has in recent years. We will seek to repeat successful programs from past years such as sleepovers, service projects and munchkins.
