Happy Holidays Everybody!
The theme for this year in Religious Education is The Circle of Life. We began the year learning about Earth Centered Religious Traditions. Our focus was on Unitarian Universalist 6th source-the celebration of the spiritual teachings of these traditions and how they instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature. We are shifting our focus to the 3rd & 4th Sources~ Wisdom from the world’s religions which inspire us in our ethical and spiritual life. Presently, we our learning specifically about the 4th Source ~ Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to love by loving our neighbors as ourselves. We are including Islam since it is considered part of the Abrahamic religions and also as many traditions do, has a version of the Golden Rule. The Golden Rule is the underlying topic of all our rotations. You can follow all the exciting things we are doing on a weekly basis and also see our Religious Education Ministry Covenant at the First Parish of Chelmsford Web Site under Religious Education. http://www.uuchelmsford.org/re/
The reason we can offer such great rotations is because of our volunteers. In order to continue with the fun/workshops…We need volunteers! Our upcoming rotations are Wisdom from the East Workshops. First will be the Hinduism workshop beginning on January 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th which will culminate in a Festival of Lights from Around the World on February 2nd. The other Wisdom from the East workshop is about Buddhism. The dates for these are February 17th, 24th, March 3rd and 10th. The last workshop for the year will be Prophetic Words & Deeds/Transforming Love. The Dates are March 24th, April 7th, 14th, and 21st. You can take this opportunity in expressing your creativity and collaborate in planning the curriculum or we can provide one. We appreciate all our fantastic volunteers and welcome all others that want to make a difference in our youth’s life, in their own life, and in the entire circle of life. Please remember “It takes a village” and “we are the village.”
We invite All of You, to please join us in the Religious Education of all our youth in making this an exciting, memorable year where our youth learn the biggest lesson of all. That is- that we at First Parish of Chelmsford are part of a wonderful community and we can all make a difference in the circle of life~ of the entire world.
On a more personal note, I want to thank everyone that was part of my 90day probation evaluation. I enjoy very much being able to be part of such a great congregation, and consider it an honor that I am now officially your permanent full-time DRE & YP.
