The Nominating Committee (NC) is responsible for finding qualified people to fill leadership positions on elected committees.
The members of the NC are elected at the Annual Meeting. The NC is comprised of 5 voting members of the Society. Four committee members serve overlapping 3-year terms. Preferably the fifth member is one of the 2 members finishing their terms on the Standing Committee. The fifth member serves a 1-year term.
Leadership is the key to the continuing vitality of our church community. Finding and selecting those leaders is the responsibility of the NC. Service on the NC therefore is one of the most important assignments a member of First Parish will perform. Individuals chosen to perform on the NC should be well acquainted with the membership, have thorough understanding of First Parish and how it operates. They should also be imaginative, persuasive and discreet. They are the Talent Scouts!
The NC is responsible year-round for finding qualified people to fill leadership positions on elected committees. Membership on the respective committees is contingent upon their election by the congregation to these posts at the Annual Meeting.

The NC is also available to help other committees fill vacant seats as needed. In this role, the NC works closely with the Membership Committee to facilitate the integration of relative newcomers into our community, as well as to identify and develop future church leaders.
We encourage members of the congregation to suggest potential leaders. Do you know somebody who can assume—and also delegate—responsibility, who can inspire others to follow, who has a sense of perspective and humor, and who is imaginative, creative and flexible? Maybe this person:
