What to Expect When Visiting First Parish
Initial Visit
At a typical Sunday Morning service, greeters welcome everyone at the door and hand out the Order of Worship for the service. If you are new to First Parish, let the greeters know. They may invite you to fill out temporary name tag, and to sign our guest in the back of the church (called the Narthex) if you would like to be out on our mailing list. They will be happy to help you find your way around, and to answer any questions you may have.
If you would like to speak with the Minister or a member of our Religious Education team before or after the service, the greeters will be happy to introduce you. Your children are welcome to join our RE program or stay in the nursery during the service.
After the service, there is a Social Hour in the Vestry (the church hall).
The evening service is more informal than the morning service, and are held in the Chapel. There will be greeters to answer your questions at this service also. There is no child care during the evening service, and no Religious Education classes, but your children are welcome to stay with you during the service. Light refreshments are served in Chapel before and after the service.
Dress at both services is casual.
