A note from Steve...
Steve Zocchi, Music Director
Thank you, everyone, for such a fun service on Music Appreciation Sunday. That service is always a high point of the year for me. Thank you to all the choirs and everyone involved that Sunday. It was so much fun.
I was very moved by the Coming of Age ceremony on May 19th. It is such an honor to hear all the participant’s Credos and see the look of pride on the parent’s faces. That the kids share their thoughts with our community is a beautiful thing. It reinforces our commitment to our youth and to each other. I would like my children to go through the same wonderful tradition.
I would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and sentiment regarding my brother’s ill-health. His recovery will be long, so far seeming like a juxtaposition of improvements and set-backs, but I have to believe he will live many more years. The ordeal has made me realize the strength of the sibling bond. Though my brother and I have radically different opinions on countless issues, it does not matter now. The inherent worth and dignity of every person is easy to respect when he is one’s own family member, facing mortality. Perhaps we as a species could someday learn to feel this way about all our brothers and sisters in the broader sense. After all, we are all facing mortality.
On a lighter note, we have a lot of great music coming up in the next few weeks. And, as always, I look forward to seeing you all each Sunday. Thank you.
Your Music Director, Steve
