A note from Steve...
Steve Zocchi, Music Director
It’s hard to believe it’s already April. I am eagerly planning for Easter and then of course Music Appreciation Sunday (May 5th). And, we have a concert scheduled for Saturday May 11th at 4:00 which will be a collaborative effort involving the talented Tervos and friends. I’d like to thank everyone who attended my concert “Man vs. Piano” on March 16th. It will live in my memory as one the musical highlights of my life. It may be the most musical fun I’ve ever had. I plan a rematch for next year.
I try not to watch the news much these days and in fact we don’t keep a T.V. at our house. I hardly glance at social media. It feels slightly irresponsible to avoid the realities of a struggling humanity, but I have to say, I’ve never been happier. By refusing to allow those who profit from negativity to have access to my brain I am able to focus on trying to shine my own little light the best I can. I see many of you all doing the same. We have a good thing going and we can bring light into the world. I am mindful of this fact with every note I play. Life-affirming kindness seems to be the song we are singing.
This month, my twins Nico and Matteo are turning 5 years old. They were just a few months old when I started at First Parish. My son Luciano turned 2 in December. I hope with time I will be able to instill in them all the kindness and wisdom I have witnessed at First Parish. I’m still learning, and that’s a beautiful thing. Thank you all for being who you are. I learn so much from each of you. And thank you all for sharing your love of music every Sunday. You inspire me.
