I can hardly believe that June is upon us and the Church year is winding down. This is the end of my second year with this beloved community, though I prefer to think of it as the beginning of my third year. It's been an amazing year and we've accomplished so much. I owe a debt of gratitude to all the choirs, all the parents of choir participants, and of course the amazing staff...not to mention this incredible congregation. We have created so much music together: the Talent Show, the Concert Series, the services themselves. We have joined together in deep, meaningful music-making in a wide variety of styles, moods, and methods. It is a music director's dream to have so many resources available and to work for a congregation which is open to all heartfelt music.
I am pleased with the success of this first year of our Concert Series. I feel that it will become a vital tool for us to reach out to the larger community. With the goal of sharing our wealth of love and music with the world, we open our doors to the public and let them hear the abundance. I know we will reach some new people this way, and I am looking forward to next year. We can expand and improve going forward with what we have learned this year. I need to especially thank the Tervo family for their leadership in the May 21st concert. I was proud to participate in such an eclectic recital with such excellent musicians. And, of course, the Music Committee and other volunteers make it all possible.
There's so much to say, but I can summarize with just an expression of gratitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you for welcoming me into this family. Thank you for giving me the tools to do the best job I can. Thank you for the encouragement and support. Thank you for the hard work of so many volunteers. And thank you for being engaged, thoughtful and fun.
Your music director, Steve
