December already?!! November was great. Special thanks to Mark Tervo for playing sax on November 8th. Also, huge thanks to all the choirs for sharing their gifts at the Thanksgiving Ingathering on the 22nd. I am proud of all the choirs. Thank you to Jeffrey Taylor, Edith Collins and Lovey Collins for working with the Carol Choir. And, as always, Senior Choir works so hard and is so awesome. They are so appreciated by everyone, especially by me. We said goodbye to Will Reiter and he will be missed. The Meetinghouse Ringers were fantastic at the November 15th service. We also took the show on the road and performed at Temple Emmanuel in Lowell on the 20th. I had the privilege of accompanying an impromptu choir with Ellen, Justine and several other First Parish folks singing Blue Boat Home at the GLILA (Greater Lowell Interfaith Leadership Alliance) Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Gathering at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chelmsford on November 15th. Great month.
December will be fun. U.U. School of Rock is playing the December 20th Winter Solstice Intergen service. Thank you Eliot Mayer and Joan Coyne and all the parents and performers for making that happen!
Now it's time to focus on Christmas Eve celebrations and to look even beyond. All choirs will be singing/playing on Christmas Eve. I am looking forward to it and we have so much great music planned. The fabulous Erika Taylor has offered to sing with Senior and Intermediate Choirs and also to do a solo.
I am looking for performers of all types, and volunteers to help set up and break down, for the Talent Show/Potluck on January 23rd (1/30 if we are snowed out on 1/23). Contact me. I am also very excited about my upcoming concert at First Parish on February 6th (snow date 2/27). Save those dates.
And remember, Senior Choir is always looking for more voices. If you love to sing and can read a little music, join us. We rehearse in the sanctuary on Thursday nights at 7:30pm. Ever consider trying Bell Choir and you know how to read music even just a little bit? The Meetinghouse Ringers meet in the sanctuary on Wednesdays at 7:15.
Below is a short list of dates to put on your calendar...
Talent Show/potluck: Saturday 1/23/16 7:00pm. (Snow date 1/30)
First Parish Concert Series
Concert 1: "Steve Zocchi in Concert" performing inspirational improvisations and more. Saturday 2/6/15 7:00 (snow date 2/27)

Thank you all so much. Feel free to contact me anytime!
Your music director, Steve
Well, I can hardly believe that it's already October. It seems like the Water Communion was just yesterday, and yet I'm already thinking about Christmas Eve. The church year moves so fast! September was wonderful and all the choirs are in full force. Thank you to all the music participants. A special thank you to Janice Tervo, cello, for donating her amazing talents on September 27th.
And remember, you are always welcome to join in. Contact me if you have any interest in any of the choirs at First Parish. Senior Choir is always recruiting singers, and we have a blast. Junior and Intermediate Choirs will be singing in the October 18th morning service and it's going to be great. Carol Choir sign ups will begin October 11th and they will rehearse under the guidance of volunteers from Intermediate Choir starting on October 18th.
Some things to look forward to... We are going to have a First Parish Talent Show/Potluck again this year. More information on that soon, but save the evening of Saturday, January 9th. (Snow day will be January 23rd). Also, I am starting a concert series here a First Parish. I plan on kicking it off on Saturday February 6th (snow day 2/27) with a solo piano concert of Inspirational Improvisations. Other concerts will be March 19th and another in May. More information soon, as I work out all the details. It's going to be a great year!
Thank you all. Feel free to contact me with any thoughts, ideas, questions or just to say Hi.
