This month I find myself reflecting on just how lucky I am. Maybe it's the occasional nice weather, or Ellen's return, or the gradual calming of the Church year...things just feel right. April was so enjoyable. I might be biased, but all the music ensembles did such a great job on Music Appreciation Sunday. I am so proud to be associated with every single one of you. You are all musicians as far as I'm concerned, and it is a pleasure to work with/for you all.
But the Spirit never rests. It's time to look forward to the third and final concert of our 2016 Concert Series. On Saturday May 21st at 7:00pm we will have an eclectic concert of classical and jazz music. The Tervo family and friends are headlining, and I'll be playing as well. It is shaping up to be an awesome concert. It's for a good cause, too, as all the proceeds will be donated to Lowell Transitional Living Center.
I’m looking forward to another great month. And remember, I work for YOU. Please feel free to contact me anytime with thoughts, ideas and/or to inquire about the music program. I know you can sing, I hear you during the services...yes, you...so you should join Senior Choir. Just show up any Thursday night at 7:30 in the sanctuary. I promise you won't regret it. And, I know you love the handbell choir. Bells meets Wednesday nights at 7:30 (a little earlier really) and you might enjoy trying it out.
Your music director, Steve
Thank you all for a wonderful March! Thank you to all the choirs and everyone who participated in the Easter Service. It was so much fun. You are all the life force of the music program here at First Parish. The Tenebrae service on the 24th was so beautiful. I also want to thank everyone who attended and participated in the concert on March 12th. The Tervos especially deserve a huge thanks for so generously sharing theiramazing talents with us. The concert series is very successful, and I can't wait for the next concert which will be on May 21st.
"One-Hour Choir" will be Sunday April 10th. Anyone can just show up at 8:45 that morning and sing with Senior Choir. We will rehearse for about 45 minutes. There is no obligation, it's just a one time thing. (Although, if you love to sing and are lots of fun, you might just get recruited). All voices are welcome, and I have some great music planned,
Another date to be aware of is April 24, "Music Appreciation Sunday". All choirs will be showing off their talents and the music is going to be engaging and upbeat. It's a great way to express our gratitude to each other for sharing our music.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention how happy I am that Ellen is back from sabbatical. Thanks to the amazing staff and lay leaders (and amazing congregation in general) the sabbatical months went very well. I am impressed with how smoothly everything went, and it is a testimony to Ellen's wonderful leadership that we have all been able to work so well together even when she was away. But, like all of you, I am absolutelythrilled to have Ellen back home at First Parish. We love you Ellen!
