Well, I can hardly believe that it's already October. It seems like the Water Communion was just yesterday, and yet I'm already thinking about Christmas Eve. The church year moves so fast! September was wonderful and all the choirs are in full force. Thank you to all the music participants. A special thank you to Janice Tervo, cello, for donating her amazing talents on September 27th.
And remember, you are always welcome to join in. Contact me if you have any interest in any of the choirs at First Parish. Senior Choir is always recruiting singers, and we have a blast. Junior and Intermediate Choirs will be singing in the October 18th morning service and it's going to be great. Carol Choir sign ups will begin October 11th and they will rehearse under the guidance of volunteers from Intermediate Choir starting on October 18th.
Some things to look forward to... We are going to have a First Parish Talent Show/Potluck again this year. More information on that soon, but save the evening of Saturday, January 9th. (Snow day will be January 23rd). Also, I am starting a concert series here a First Parish. I plan on kicking it off on Saturday February 6th (snow day 2/27) with a solo piano concert of Inspirational Improvisations. Other concerts will be March 19th and another in May. More information soon, as I work out all the details. It's going to be a great year!
Thank you all. Feel free to contact me with any thoughts, ideas, questions or just to say Hi.
Although I am begrudgingly letting go of summer, I am excited to start another year at First Parish. I look forward to seeing everybody again and making music with my First Parish family. Here's some important information
Remember that Church will now be starting at 10:00.
Junior Choir rehearsals will be begin on Sunday September 13th 11:30-12:15 in the sanctuary. Any kids age 7-12 (essentially grades 2-7) are welcome to join. It's a lot of fun and I have a lot of great music planned.
Intermediate Choir rehearsals will be 12:15-1:15 and also begin on September 13th. (Ages 13- college).
Bell choir will still be rehearsing on Wednesday nights at 7:15 in the sanctuary. We are always looking for new ringers who we can recruit. Some music reading skills are essential, but everything else can be learned as you go. It's tons of fun and The Meetinghouse Ringers are a great group of people.
Senior Choir rehearses in the sanctuary on Thursday nights at 7:30.
The new regular Sunday warmup time for Senior Choir is 9:15am. Reading music is important, as well as a love of singing, but there is no audition process so don't be shy. You will be welcomed and cherished by the Senior Choir. I will help you figure out what part you should sing (Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass). We have so much fun!
I have many plans for this year. It's going to be an amazing year of musical and spiritual development.
As always, I want everyone to feel comfortable contacting me with musical questions and ideas. I am here for you.
Your music director, Steve
