A note from Steve...
Steve Zocchi, Music Director
I know I say it all the time, but I'll repeat myself anyway...I love being Music Director at First Parish. I am reminded everyday just how lucky I am to be part of something so good. This community, the staff, and all the music-makers, together create a sanctuary for which I feel intense gratitude.
I need to thank everyone who helped out with the concert on Veterans Day. Thank you Music Committee members for all the logistical support and thank you Dee Halzack for doing the publicity. Thank you to everyone who attended. We raised $1,119 dollars which is being donated to "Homes for Our Troops". The most special moment of the evening was watching the audience give my father, Mario Zocchi, a standing ovation for his service in Korea and Vietnam. It almost made me cry. It made him so happy and he told me it was the most beautiful recognition he's received for his service. Thank you so much for doing that. It was so meaningful for him. I felt overwhelming pride in First Parish and my father simultaneously. So good.
Meetinghouse Ringers deserve an extra thank you for all their hard work. We took the show on the road and performed at Temple Emmanuel on Friday, November 17th, for their New Members Service. The Bell Choir also did a fantastic job here at First Parish on the 12th and also performing the prelude on the 19th. They work really hard and move a lot of gear.
I also need to thank ALL the choirs for their excellent work at the Thanksgiving Ingathering service. I am so proud of all the youth choirs. And I always owe a debt of gratitude to Senior Choir for their contribution to our Church.
The Talent Show/Potluck is coming up, January 20th. Contact Dolores if you are interested in participating. I will be happy to provide musical accompaniment for anyone. It's going to be so much fun. All family-friendly acts are welcome: Singers, Instrumentalists, Comedy, Poetry, Mimes, Jugglers, Magic acts. Show off your talent.
